TWICE is gearing to release its latest track "Signal" but even before the girls launch the single, their teasers are already being met with a lot of controversies. This time, the EXO fandom known as EXO-Ls are the ones accusing TWICE of plagiarism.

According to Digitial Music News, EXO-Ls are up in arms over the fact that TWICE's teasers for their upcoming release feature the girl group members as characters with special superpowers. This has led many fans to go online to air their displeasure over TWICE borrowing the supernatural concept which was used by EXO for an earlier album.

The teasers show TWICE members adopting special powers like controlling time, invisibility, super strength, super speed, hypnosis, and x-ray vision. The posters also showed symbols that represent the powers based on Greek mythology, which fans have cited have earlier been done by EXO.

While many were unimpressed with the accusation and were unconvinced by the argument, EXO-Ls maintained that TWICE did a copycat move. "True, EXO didn't create the supernatural concept, but they were the first to debut with that concept in Kpop," an EXO-L posted.

So far, EXO's camp has not weighed in on the issue. But TWICE was not the only K-pop group to receive criticisms of plagiarism.

According to a report by Soompi, early this year, BTS was also accused of plagiarizing BIG BANG T.O.P's "No Signal" concept for their 2017 Gaon Chart Awards performance. Big Hit Entertainment explained that they were unaware of the stage backdrop and footage that will be used for the event, and organizers of the event have acknowledged that they were unable to submit the material for review to BTS' label prior to the performance leading to the misunderstanding. BTS fans, in turn, have accused G-friend fans of stealing their light stick concept.
