South Korean residents will be seen heading to polls on Tuesday, 9th May to vote for a successor to President Park Geun-Hye and the one who will be leading the nation next. The tension is ever-rising, especially given the complication relationship that they share with North Korea. However, for the thousands of residents that live in South, the relation with North Korea is hardly the main problem. There are many other troubles that they seem to be facing besides corruption and reform.

According to a report published by CNN, residents of South Korea hardly feel like the on-going problems with North Korea is the main issue. Things changed after the predecessor, Park Geun-Hye failed to succeed in his promises that he made to the people. Due to this, Democratic party leader Moon Jae-In has reportedly gained popularity as being the clean candidate and thus has won most votes in the recent polls.

As also reported by Clickondetroit, corruption is also among the top factors worrying the residents of South Korea. The report goes to suggest that as per a local pollster RealMeter, approximately twenty-seven percent of the respondents stated that one of the most important character traits that they are looking for in their next leader is the candidate's ability to resolve deeply-rooted corruption and reform that has been taking place; while, the other twenty-four per cent stated that they hope that their next candidate is able to recover the residents' livelihood and economy.

According to a report published by USA News, the nation's economy is also among the factors considered to be the top priority that requires much work. Yonhap News, a local agency recently conducted a research that suggested that the unemployment and inflation rates in South Korea have raised quite a lot in the past five years.
