Apple's next-gen handset - the iPhone 8 is expected to sell like crazy as soon as it hits the shelves. However, it has been predicted that the handset might be stricken with supply shortages due to component debacles.

KGI Securities' famed Apple device seer Ming-Chi Kuo made an ominous statement recently that the Cupertino tech giant's iPhone 8 will be plagued with supply constraints as the premium handset is slated to usher in a new technology. Both Apple fans and pundits alike are very much acquainted with the fact that the smartphone will go bezel-less and will be laid with an OLED display, according to Apple Insider.

Korea Portal previously reported that Apple has signed a $9 billion deal with Samsung as the former tasked the latter to produce 70 million OLED panels that are believed to be used for the iPhone 8. Additionally, there are even reports suggesting that another South Korean company - LG, was also tapped in producing such material.

Kuo also pointed out that the iPhone 8 scarcity could go worse to a point where Apple might impose a cap in the handset's shipment during the second half of the year. This could mean that the shipment of new iPhones might go as low as 80 to 90 million.

Meanwhile, Apple is also believed to launch two more iterations of the iPhone - the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus. However, it is also theorized that the these updated renders of the current iPhone might not get much love from discerning users due to the emerging edge-to-edge trend.

If rumors are anything to go by, the iPhone 8 will have a 5.2-inch OLED screen, though some reports have stated that it could be upped to 5.8. A virtual touch sensor might be lodged within the display. Nevertheless, other leaks tell a different story as schematics of a purported prototype featured a circular hole on its back panel directly below its logo.

As of late, iPhone 8's launch is believed to push through this fall. Check out a video featuring a concept render of the handset here:
