While fans have remained hopeful that "Star Trek: Discovery" will be receiving an air date on CBS All Access soon, it seems that it may be a while before production can give a definitive release date for a new addition to the Star Trek franchise. This latest development is making fans nervous after receiving a similar report early in the year.

According to a new report by Vulture, CBS Interactive President Marc DeBevoise gave an update and said that production is going great. He also shared that the set is huge and phenomenal and the cast is becoming something that fans should look forward to. Included in the cast is "The Walking Dead's" Sonequa Martin-Green, who was recently killed off in the AMC show and gave fans hope that she will be focusing on the new "Star Trek" series.

Also included in stacked line up of actors are James Frain who will play Sarek, the father of Leonard Nimoy's Mr. Spock, Harry Potter's Jason Isaacs, Michelle Yeoh, Chris Obi, Doug Jones and Shazad Latif. DeBevoise said that aside from the cast, the content and the creators are quite satisfied with how the franchise is shaping up, Korea Portal earlier reported.

"It'll be there when we're ready to do it, and when we feel it's in a great place," DeBevoise said about "Star Trek: Discovery". "We're not worried about anything here. We're excited."

However, fans of the franchise zoned in on DeBevoise's failure to commit to a specific air date. When he was asked about rumors of a fall release, the CBS executive also maintained that they are not committing to a specific date for the release of "Star Trek: Discovery."

It can be recalled that the original date for the 13 episode "Star Trek: Discovery" series was set for January before it was pushed back to May due to production delays. The air date was again pushed back to an unspecific late summer or late fall release which has made fans anxious about the actual status of the much-anticipated series.

"Star Trek: Discovery" is intended to be a prequel series which takes place before the events of any other installment in the franchise. The presence of Sarek, Mr. Spock's father, who has appeared in several episodes of the original series is intended to provide a continuity in the franchise.
