‘Goblin’ Star Gong Yoo Nabs Highest Honor At Asian Film Awards
Gong Yoo continues to nab several achievements to add to his impressive acting portfolio with the 'Goblin' actor receiving the top honor at the 11th Asian Film Awards. Meanwhile, the "Train to Busan" star was recently linked to a dating controversy with former co-star Kim Go Eun.
The South Korean actor has had a busy 2017 having landed several commercial and brand endorsement deals especially after the successful run of the fantasy series "Goblin." Gong Yoo even added another award to his collection, having received the Best Actor honor during the Asian Film Awards, Korea Herald reported.
Held on March 21, Tuesday, in Hong Kong, Gong Yoo was recognized for his acting in the zombie apocalyptic movie "Train to Busan." The said film even became one of the highest selling movies that were released in the said Asian country.
Apart from Gong Yoo, "The Last Princess" star Son Ye Jin took home the Best Actress honor. Moreover, "The Handmaiden" stars Moon So Ri and Kim Tae Ri was also recognized during the Asian Film Awards. The two South Korean celebrities were named Best Supporting Actress and Best Newcomer, respectively.
In other new, the "Coffee Prince" actor was recently involved in a dating controversy with his "Goblin" co-star Kim Go Eun. Speculations are rife that Gong Yoo was one of the reasons why the actress and her boyfriend, "Mr. Back" star Shin Ha Kyun, broke up.
However, a source from Kim Go Eun's agency clarified the actress' controversy with Gong Yoo. The source told local reporters that the dating speculations between the former "Goblin" co-stars were untrue, Korean news outlet Joins reported. Shin Ha Kyun and the "Cheese in the Trap" star's relationship ended given their busy schedules and not because of another person, according to the source.
Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun played the lead roles in the tvN series "Goblin" which aired on Dec. 2, 2016, until Jan. 21, 2017. Watch a clip from the drama below:
