Now that season 7 of HBO's "Game of Thrones" already has a definite playdate, avid viewers of the show are also musing about the show's final installment. Such anticipation may have been partly answered as it was revealed by the showrunners that season 8 will only comprise of six episodes.

Producers, Dan Weiss and David Benioff were present at a panel interview at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas that was held last Sunday, March 12.  The duo confirmed the eighth season of "Game of Thrones" will only have six episodes and added that their aim was to create a 70-hour film.

Turns out, the final season will be 73-hour long and the two showrunners went on saying that the show stayed the way they want it to be of having a start off point, middle part, and the looming end. Benioff added that they are glad that they maintained the remaining roster without a single key character getting killed along the way, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Both Benioff and Weiss stressed that they will no longer be involved in future prequels and spinoffs about the show in the event that HBO plans to do such. Moreover, the two alongside some of "Game of Thrones" actors were tight-lipped regarding the show's inbound season, though they participated in several spoiler-free topics.

Weiss also highlighted during the panel that the worst scene that they have ever shot was the scene where Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) together with Theon (Alfie Allen) and the Stark boys can be seen shaving each other. In addition, the actors who were on the scene were all shirtless not to mention that all of them are flexing their muscles in between takes.

Meanwhile, Harrington spoke with The Huffington Post as the publication asked him as to whether season 7 of  "Game of Thrones" is all worth it. The actor responded on a positive note stating that albeit having few episodes, the showrunners spent a hefty sum of money on these including the show's CGI to have a season that will be pushing boundaries of TV viewing.

Singer Ed Sheeran has been confirmed to be making a cameo in the upcoming season of "Game of Thrones." It was also revealed that it was actually intended to surprise Maisie Williams who plays Arya Stark in the show. Season 7 of "GoT" officially kicks off on July 16.
