Avid "Pokemon Go" players were recently treated to an in-game event where Niantic released festive Pikachu characters to commemorate Pokemon Day. It appears that the gaming company might soon unleash another special event for the upcoming Easter holiday.

Niantic has been known to deploy special challenges or in-game treats during holidays such as the "Pokemon Go" event on Valentine's Day, Christmas and even Halloween. For the upcoming Easter celebration, avid fans of the said mobile gaming app are hoping that a similar event will be released.

Despite Niantic keeping silent about the speculated "Pokemon Go" Easter event, a source told Slash Gear that the gaming company has already identified some of the planned rewards during the said holiday. Given the celebration's link to eggs, game developers are said to be considering giving double candy rewards whenever a Pokemon is hatched from an in-game egg.

For players hoping for a temporary change in the required walking distance needed to hatch eggs, it appears that Niantic has no plans to adjust the said feature during the speculated "Pokemon Go" event. Gamers can expect to see the same Pokemon characters hatch from 2kilometer (km), 5km and 10km eggs.

Other speculated tweaks that Niantic might deploy includes a potential sale of specific "Pokemon Go" items. The in-game incubator might get a special discount, according to the said news site.

At this time, it is still unsure if Niantic will release a "Pokemon Go" Easter event or introduce the candy boost and special sale. The gaming company has yet to comment on the said news.

Meanwhile, avid gamers can look forward to the release of several characters and Legendary Pokemon creatures such as Mew, Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. In an interview with Germany's Wired, as cited by Polygon, Niantic's CEO John Hawke confirmed that the addition of new characters is already in their roadmap of planned releases for the year.

However, the Niantic boss did not share their target timeline for the said "Pokemon Go" update. Avid players should wait for future announcements about the enhancements and new gaming events.
