"Heart of Thorns" is the newest expansion of AreaNet's 2012 MMORPG "Guild Wars 2." The expansion is now out for players try out since it promises to have a lot of new content for the game, according to Forbes. The expansion came out three months after "Guild Wars 2" became free-to-play.
"Heart of Thorns will be the game's first paid expansion and it will be launched today across digital and retail in North America and Europe, according to VG247.
The game has also reached over 7 million players globally when it started to become a free-to-play game, according to the game developer.
The new expansion will add a lot of content to the game. The first content to be revealed is a new profession which is a Revenant. There are also other new elite specializations. These will give players new weapons and skills to the professions that are already available, according to sources.
"We energised our fans in January with the announcement of Heart of Thorns as the first expansion to Guild Wars 2, and we've seen steady growth in our player base ever since," said ArenaNet president Mike O'Brien.
There are also new fractal dungeons, raids, and also a new map for the game's WvW PvP mode. This map will be called Desert Borderlands. There are also new enemies to fight, according to PC Gamer.
The new profession, Revenant, is a tank type that can channel their ancestors and turn them into different Mist Attacks.
