BTS Breaks US Itunes Kpop Record With ‘Spring Day’
BTS' new track "Spring Day" swept through various local charts to claim the top spot shortly after its release. The track even made Kpop history as the first song from a South Korean group to enter the U.S. iTunes' Top 10 song list.
It appears that 2017 will be another milestone year for the seven-member boy band BTS. The K-pop group's new song "Spring Day" landed at number eight on the U.S. iTunes Top 10 song chart, Soompi reported.
The more than four-minute song is one of the four new tracks included in BTS' repackaged album "Wing: You Never Walk Alone." Aside from "Spring Day," the said album also includes "Not Today," "Outro: Wings," as well as "A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone."
Meanwhile, BTS' "Spring Day" achieved the said milestone several hours after its Feb. 13 midnight release. As of 8:30 a.m. KST, the said song rose to the bottom half of the U.S. iTunes Top 10 list with "Not Today" tracking at number 11.
Moreover, the K-pop group's new album also debuted at the top of several iTunes charts. "You Never Walk Alone" nabbed the first place on iTunes album charts in Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Armenia, Brunei, Kazakhstan, as well as Finland, Peru, and Sweden.
In other news, "Spring Days" also reigned over eight major music sites in South Korea such as Melon, Mnet, Genie, Olleh, Soribada, and others. The music streaming site Melon even experienced temporary server issues due to the influx of fans listening to the song, Yonhap News reported.
"Spring Days," as well as the K-pop group's new album "You Never Walk Alone" are expected to replicate the same level of success as BTS' previous tracks and albums. With the band's second album "Wings" registering an impressive 751,000 sale count, the group's latest album is also set to reach or exceed the same milestone.
BTS' new track "Spring Day" and new album "You Never Walk Alone" were released on Feb. 13, Monday.
