Good bye Nexus. Hello Pixel?

Google will end the public's anticipation of new details about new products Chrome Cast and Pixel on Oct. 4.

The event to be held in San Francisco cover the lineup announcement of new smartphone Pixel. More information about 4K streaming-capable Chrome Cast including its release date and price will also be unveiled.

The company is also set to update the public about the much-awaited Al-powered virtual assistant which was launched in May, Business Insider reported. Digital assistants have been on tight competition nowadays. Amazon, Microsoft and Apple have Echo, Cortana and Siri, respectively. Google is expected to play harder with the voice-activated Google Home.

Google Home is a cylindrical speaker that aims to replace the function of Android phones that allows users to speak to a digital assistant. Google Home is currently the only smart-home product available in the market. Compared to Nest which is also a smart-home device by Google, Google Home has unique voice activation capabilities.

Meanwhile, Google posted a video on its official website hinting the release of new phones. Sources also said that the "Pixel" smartphones are placed under the madeby.google.com URL which may mean that Google is the sole creator of handsets and not in partnership with LG or Huawei just like in the case of its previous smart phones.

Pixel and Pixel Xl will have 5 and 5.5 inch display, respectively. It is believed that former Nexus phones Marlin and Sailfish were renamed as Pixel and Pixel XL. GSM Arena posted the preliminary unofficial specifications of the phone revealing that it would be powered by Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 with an OS Android OS, v7.1 (Nougat).

On upcoming Google Event, fans expect to see new technologies and creations from Google that could level with Apple, Samsung and Amazon's products.
