Pikachu Undergoes Plastic Surgery in South Korea

The world's most famous Pokemon, Pikachu now with new look after undergoing plastic surgery in South Korea.

The country is popular for its cosmetic surgeries including nose straightening and chin slimming. Some celebrities admitted and are proud of the work done to their faces.

In fact, South Korea is regarded as the global cosmetic surgeries capital, More than a million surgical procedures are done in the country annually given the fact that its population is just around 50 million. The industry is worth 5 billion dollars.

Tech Insider reported that the most common surgical procedure in the country is the double eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty. The report cited the statistics released by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic surgery revealing that 1.43 million individuals underwent the said procedure in 2014.

The procedure makes the eyes bigger to avoid the tired and sleepy look especially among individuals with single eyelid.

Director Hang-Seok Choi of JK Plastic Surgery clinic said that "ladies want to have a beautiful look, defined look." He added that there are male patients who want the same operation too.

The doctor emphasized that the operation is cheap with a cost that ranges between $1,000 to $3,000. It also has a short recovery time and less invasive approach.

The report also mentioned that double eyelid surgery in modern time is related to the Kpop wave which features ladies with big eyes but do not intend to look Caucasians.

With the popularity of the interactive game Pokemon Go nowadays, The Apgujeong Seoul Plastic Surgery clinic used Pokemon Pikachu as a model for their surgical procedures with compliance with the Nintendo and Pokemon Company legitimate marketing and licensing agreement.

The clinic subjected Pikachu was subjected to several procedures including the incorporation of double folded eyelids, fuller lips, taller nose and pointier chin. The character's chubby cheeks were also reduced, Drama Fever reported.

The consultation and surgical operations were conducted by Dr. Lee Min-gu.
