Russia Slapped

Russia is banned from the 2016 Paralympics according to a decision of the International Paralympics Committee.

Russia has lost its appeal to the committee against a ban slapped on it for apparently mandating a state-sanctioned doping program for nearly all of its national athletes -including Paralympics athletes according to a recent BBC news report.

Nationwide Ban

The Court of Arbitration for Sport stated that it will uphold and permit the ruling made by the International Paralympics Committee to impose a nationwide ban on all Russian athletes from participating in the 2016 Paralympics games which will commence on the 7th of September.

After a thorough study of the McLaren report which gave a detailed description of Russia's government-supported doping program of its athletes, the International Paralympic Committee made an unprecedented decision to give a sweeping prohibition of all Russian athletes.

According to the Committee their decision to give an all out ban "was proportionate in the circumstances."

Russia Did not Appeal

The International Paralympics Committee's decision did not encounter any resistance or counter evidence from the Russian Paralympics Committee to dispute the allegations further solidifying the Committee's decision.

Russian athletes in the 2016 Rio Olympics were openly mocked and jeered both by fellow players and audiences for participating in the games despite having been embroiled in past doping cases.
