Lee Min-ho Wins 'Asian Cinema Pioneer' Prize at Weibo Movie Awards

South Korean mega-star, Lee Min-ho took home the Asian Cinema Pioneer prize at the Weibo Movie Awards in Shanghai on Monday. 

The prize was award based on votes from 100 million subscribers of Weibo, a Chinese equivalent of Twitter. 

"The prize is meaningful because local Chinese people voted for him," the organizer said.

Lee is an influential figure in Asian entertainment. He has about 28,830,000 followers on Weibo. 

Lee and Jeon Ji-hyun will star in a new TV series on SBS this November. The genre of the series is said to be fantasy-romance, and inspired by a Korean tale. 

Lee is known for many TV roles includes "The Heirs." Jeon is most known for her previous role in "My Love From the Star." Both series were mega hits in Korea and nearby countries.
