‘Pacific Rim 2’ Release Date To Be Moved To Later Schedule; ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Gets Release Date
The latest official statement released by Legendary pictures does not seem to bode so well for the status of "Pacific Rim 2" with the studio stating that the movie will be released on a later date, according to a report on Den of Geek.
Previously, it has been reported that Guillermo del Toro updated fans about the status of "Pacific Rim 2," saying that the project is still on the go and he has not given up on the project as opposed to what the rumors were saying.
However, now, it seems that the status of the movie, particularly its release date, does not seem so good.
Legendary Pictures released an official statement with regard to the "Pacific Rim 2" release date, saying that the scheduled theatrical release will be moved to a later date, according to Coming Soon. Formerly, it was announced that the movie will be released in Aug. 7, 2017, but it just is not the case anymore.
"Legendary's 'Pacific Rim 2,' originally scheduled for release on Aug. 4, 2017, will be re-dated at a later time," the statement reads via SlashFilm.
Not all hope is lost as the studio also announced that del Toro and his team are still "committed" to creating "Pacific Rim 2," further explaining the reason behind the delay.
The statement said that the decision to delay the production as well as the release date of the film in order to allow room for the creative to "continue on its efforts to exceed the amazing experience of the first film."
On the other hand, though the announcement of the rescheduling does spark hope that the film is still happening, speculations by Cinemablend says that it does not bode so well for "Pacific Rim 2" considering the hectic scheduling in Hollywood.
It would have been a great date for the film to be released as no other film has been scheduled for release on said date. Now that "Pacific Rim 2" has lost its schedule, the report said that Universal has already given Aug. 4, 2017 to "Pitch Perfect 3."
