Injury Stops Jeremy Lin's Linsanity Momentum As Charlotte Hornets Succumb To Utah Jazz
It was a horrible night for Linsanity fans as Charlotte Hornets' ace guard Jeremy Lin suffered a sprained ankle injury, which would force him to miss the next couple of games. The Utah Jazz took advantage of the incident and forced a blowout win at home, 73 -102.
Rallying the Jazz was Rodney Hood with 24 points, four assists and four rebounds. Forward Gordon Hayward chipped in another 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a couple of steals. Frenchman Rudy Gobert dominated the board with 12 rebounds.
Late in the third quarter, Jeremy Lin injured his ankle when the Charlotte Hornets player was trying to penetrate the basket. It appears that Linsanity landed with a wrong footing which initiated the injury.
Lin was forced out of the game after only 17 minutes of playing time and with just four points contribution. Kemba Walker, who scored a career high 52 points during the last Jazz-Hornets game, only managed to chip in 15 points. He added five rebounds on his stats.
With Jeremy Lin's injury, Bryan Roberts stepped up into the rotation and scored 13 points in 12 minutes of playing time. Now that Linsanity is out of the Charlotte Hornets' rotation, analysts speculate that reserve guard Aaron Harrison will be able to get some playing time, according to CBS Sports.
In a statement acquired by NBA.com, Jazz coach Quin Snyder commented on Walker's performance by saying, "Guys that were guarding him started out doing a good job on him. Collectively I thought our bigs did a much better job, not giving as much room on pick-and-roll. Just had more of an awareness."
It appears that Hornets is plagued by a couple of injuries and will seriously affect player rotation. Cody Zeller missed his fourth consecutive game as he is suffering from a right shoulder strain. Additionally, Jeremy Lamb missed his third consecutive game due to a right great toe sprain.
