Kalafina’s Album Enters Oricon's Weekly Chart At Top 2 Spot, Asian Tour Confirmed!

Japanese pop vocal group Kalafina's album far on the water recently entered the Oricon Weekly Chart at No. 2 for the week of September 14-20. The much-awaited album sold at 24,601 copies in its first week of release as reported by Anime News Network.

This is the third album of the 8-year-old baroque pop trio that ranked well in the Oricon music charts. Their previous albums "After Eden" (2011) and "Consolation" (2013) ranked at No. 3 during their first week of release. Kalafina's album far on the water so far is the group's highest-ranking album yet.

Kalafina announced the release of their newest album in July, making the record their first album after 2 and half years since their last recorded album. Prior to the release of Kalafina's album far on the water, the group released their 18th single "One Light" on August 16. The song is the 2nd ending theme song of the anime adaptation of fantasy novel series Arslan Senki.

The album has a 13-song track list, including their latest single "One Light." Other songs include heavenly blue with the opening theme song of Aldnoah.Zero, believe which is the ending theme song of Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, and the ending theme song of its second season series titled ring your bell.

Along with the release of Kalafina's album far on the water, the trio will hold performances in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan starting from October until next year. A series of Christmas lives are also confirmed as reported by Tokyo Hive - titled "Kalafina with Strings" on the following dates: Dec. 22 in Osaka, and Dec. 24 and 25 in Tokyo.

Kalafina formed by notable composer Yuki Kajiura in 2007, and the group debuted in January 2008 with original 4-member lineup. Members include Keiko Kubota, Wakana Ootaki and Hikaru Masai. At present, the group have 5 studio albums, 2 compilation albums, and 18 singles. They release their music under Sony Music Japan.
