Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have long been speculated to have split, but the "Amazing Spider-Man" couple remained mum about the whole thing.

The very private lovebirds were the subject of severa cheating rumors with Emma Stone linked to her "La La Land" co-star Ryan Gosling, while Andrew Garfield allegedly hooked up with a girl from a bar as he was filming "Hacksaw Ridge."

But the tabloids are suggesting that the split rumors were meant to promote the couple's respective careers.

"According to many reports, the break up between Stone and Garfield is a stunt created by both parties to promote Stone's new and upcoming movie 'La La Land.' The movie, which Stone will star in, will also include Hollywood a-lister Ryan Gosling," as noted in Parent Herald.

Another report claimed that the split rumors between Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are overblown.

"The actor of 'The Amazing Spider Man 2' fame purportedly understood that he is better off to be in a relationship with Stone-apparently, both have the same sentiment towards each other," claimed Movie News Guide.

One thing is for certain: the couple is not about to dignify the rumors about their alleged breakup.

"Emma and Andrew decided not to bother answering questions or queries about their relationship in order to protect their relationship from being too much in the media limelight," one report said in Parent Herald

"Stone and Garfield are also rumored to just let the media speculate and are not to be bothered about silly questions about their relationship," it added.

That runs contrary to the previous rumors that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield spread the rumors about the split in order to drive away the paparazzi and work on their relationship in peace.

According to Lawyer Herald, for now, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are focusing on their careers which is why they may not have been seen in public together.
