Singer Lee Seung Hwan Breaks Record For Longest Concert By A Korean Artist Lasting For 6 Hours

49-year-old South Korean pop singer and rocker Lee Seung Hwan broke the record for the longest concert ever performed by a Korean artist. His concert, tiled "Bar Day - 26 Years," lasted for more than six hours, was held on Sept. 19 at the AX Concert Hall in Gwangjin District, eastern Seoul starting from four in the afternoon until 11 in the evening.

Korea JoongAng Daily reported Sept. 21 that the "longest concert" featured 66 songs, including his hit songs "Flower" and "Good Day" and rock versions of "Red Camel" and "Superhero." A 30-minute intermission was allotted accompanied by sandwiches and drinks for the fans, which were prepared by the singer himself.

The concert held on Sept. 19 was not the first time the singer performed a long concert. In 2012, Lee held a concert singing 52 tracks, which lasted for five hours and 40 minutes, qualifying him to the title "god of live shows" dubbed by his fans.

Asia One noted Sept. 21 the concert had special appearances from various artists, including hip-hop artists MC Meta, Garion and 45RPM.

Lee Seung Hwan's longest concert was broadcasted live on Naver's online streaming app V, with more than 35,000 international and local real-time viewers.

Lee officially debuted in 1989 with more than 10 singles and albums that ranked number one with awards, including "Best Male Artist" and "Music Video of the Year" in 1991 for his hit song "A Request" and "Music Video Pioneer" in 2002. He is set to release his new mini album featuring three songs on Oct. 1, with open concerts scheduled on Oct. 3 and 17.

His personal life was given huge attention by the public and the media with his rising fame. He even received more attention when he was married in 2003 to South Korean actress and 1994 Ms. Haiti, Park Chae Rim, who was 14 years younger than Lee. The two were divorced 3 years later due to personality differences.
