Backstreet Boys Singer Nick Carter Arrested For Punching A Bouncer In A Florida Club

Famous Backstreet Boys member Nick Cater was arrested by police authorities in Key West, Florida Wednesday night after allegedly punching a bouncer, CNN reported Thursday.

According to the report, Carter went to Hog's Breath Saloon, a Key West pub, with friend Michael Papayans of California, appearing to be "highly intoxicated." Police authorities said Carter got out of control after being denied service by a bartender "due to their level of intoxication." Both of them were asked to leave the place after Carter became aggressive to a bartender. Once outside, he suddenly grabbed a bouncer and punched him in the throat. The police said the incident was recorded on a video, and several witnesses were able to see the incident.

Carter and Papayans were legally charged with "one count of misdemeanor battery."

The New York Daily News reported Friday that Carter's friend tried using the name of the American singer to get their way out of trouble, but the police authorities did not recognize him.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the 35-year-old singer was arrested at 8:13 PM on Wednesday night with a bail that was set at $1,500. They were both held at the Monroe County Jail.

TMZ reported on Thursday that Carter expressed his side after his arraignment in Key West. He told the reporters, "The truth will come out."

Recently, Carter performed on the popular show "Dancing With The Stars." In November, he was able to release an album and will be going on a tour next month.  He also announced that he and Laurent Kitt were expecting to have their first child.

The Backstreet Boys became famous in 1996 and had been perceived as one of the top-selling boy bands in the 90s. The group was able to sell more than 130 million records.
