BTS Bogotá Concert Oct. 2-3: City Names Them Honored Guests
Bogotá declared BTS Honored Guests of the city on Wednesday, the same day all seven members landed for their first-ever shows in Colombia. Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán Pachón signed Decree 413 on Sept. 30, according to Infobae, ahead of concerts on Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, at Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín.
The decree traces the group back to its 2013 formation and credits it with carrying Korean music and culture abroad. It also cites the ARMY fan community and says the concerts give Bogotá a chance to build its profile as a host for cultural industries and world-scale events. It notes that Colombia and South Korea established diplomatic relations in 1962, and that this is the first time Bogotá is part of a BTS world tour. The mayor will hand BTS a copy at a ceremony whose date has not been announced.
The designation began with ARMY Colombia. Fans pushed the request through the #BogotáRecibeABTS campaign, which also urged concertgoers to use public transport on show days.
The same day, a fan group went the other way on press access. After Noticias Caracol broadcast live from outside the hotel in northern Bogotá where BTS is staying, the Unión de Fanbases de Colombia asked media to take down content that reveals the group's location or movements, and to stop live broadcasts from airports and hotels. "Informar sobre BTS es bienvenido. Informar dónde están, no," the group said: reporting on BTS is welcome, reporting where they are is not. It asked fans not to share the group's location or go to the airport or hotel. ARMY Bogotá later posted a separate message asking Citytv to keep its coverage to official events.
The setlist has not been confirmed. Semana and Infobae both report that the group has not released the Bogotá repertoire, and local fans are comparing lists from other dates on the ARIRANG World Tour.
HYBE's last public move in Colombia was financial. After a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia on Aug. 10, HYBE pledged 1 billion Colombian pesos, about $300,000, through HYBE America to relief and rebuilding. The funds are being channeled through Fundación Ábaco, the Association of Colombian Food Banks. ColombiaOne reported that the quake left hundreds dead and thousands affected across 15 departments.
Bogotá opens the Latin American leg after BTS's three sold-out nights in Mexico City in May. Lima follows the next week at Estadio San Marcos, then Santiago and Buenos Aires (La Plata), with São Paulo closing the leg on Oct. 31.
