BIGBANG Is Releasing New Music for the First Time in Four Years. It's Turning All of Jamsil Into a Festival to Do It.
BIGBANG will release "BiiiG" on August 19 at 6 p.m. KST - the group's first new song in four years and four months, and the first since Taeyang and Daesung joined G-Dragon as guests on his 2025 track "HOME SWEET HOME." YG Entertainment confirmed the digital single Monday alongside a teaser poster showing the three members in silhouette against red, yellow, and blue light.
"'BiiiG' is a song that most clearly represents where Big Bang stands today as it marks its 20th anniversary," YG said in a statement, adding that fans can expect "another side of the group's musical spectrum" built on what it called Big Bang's distinctive, self-built sound. The title plays on the group's own name and doubles as a marker of scale: what YG has planned around the release is bigger than a single drop.
From August 14 to 23, YG and Lotte Department Store are converting the entire Jamsil area of Seoul - Seokchon Lake, Lotte World Mall, and Jamsil Avenue L - into a 20th-anniversary festival rather than a single pop-up. Lighting installations modeled on Big Bang's official lightstick will illuminate Seokchon Lake, with a commemorative ceremony timed to 8:19 p.m. on release night. Roughly 40 restaurants across Lotte World Mall will carry anniversary-branded napkins and limited items from bakery partners including What a Bread and Drunken Dough, and fans can leave messages on a bridge connecting Jamsil Avenue L to the mall as part of a "BIGBANG TO COSMOS" campaign.
The single arrives two days before Big Bang launches "XX: COSMOS," its 20th anniversary world tour, with three opening shows at Goyang Stadium from August 21 to 23. YG has confirmed 33 performances across 19 cities spanning North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, including a Manila date in February 2027 - the group's first Philippine show in more than a decade - with additional stops still to be announced.
Big Bang debuted in August 2006 as a five-member group under YG Entertainment; Seungri departed in 2019 and T.O.P. in 2023, leaving G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung as the group's active lineup. The trio last performed together as Big Bang at Coachella in April, where their appearance doubled as the first public confirmation of the "XX: COSMOS" tour. Whatever "BiiiG" sounds like, Big Bang has already answered the harder question - whether a three-person, 20-year-old group could still fill a stadium tour. The single just has to answer what comes out of the speakers.
