ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥︎' in JAPAN (Kobe) — A Five-Track Discography Staged Like a Three-Act Story
ILLIT has released four EPs and one single album in a little over two years. "PRESS START♥︎," which played two nights at Glion Arena Kobe on July 18 and 19, doesn't try to hide how thin that catalog still is. Instead, the show builds a genuine narrative arc out of it - and mostly earns the ambition, even though the tour's real emotional peak still belongs to a two-year-old debut single.
The concept, according to Eum Hye Jeong, the HTS Concert Production Studio 2 director credited with the show, was to stage the group as five characters from a pixelated video game jumping into the real world. The opening section, "START! (ILLIT CORE)," plays that out literally: cascading pink pixel art on the video wall, a slowed-down "Starlight" remix of "Magnetic" scoring the walk-in, before the group launches into the song's full-speed version alongside "Bamsopoong" and "Little Monster" - a trio pulled from the fantastical "magical-girl" world of Illit's third EP, "Bomb." It's a smart way to open: audiences get the biggest song first, but framed as the start of something rather than the show's obvious high point.
The show's second act, "♡ (Only For You)," is where the direction pays off. Eum built the section's sequencing - "Cherish (My Love)" and "I'll Like You" into "Pimple" and a Korean-language version of "Almond Chocolate" - around an emotional arc rather than a genre or tempo grouping, moving from bold declarations of love into quieter, harder-to-name feelings. That's a more ambitious sequencing choice than most rookie-group tours attempt, and it's the clearest evidence that "PRESS START♥︎" was built as a show, not just a run of song performances stacked back to back.
Where the format runs into its ceiling is simple math: five members, roughly two years, one true crossover hit. "Magnetic" remains the unavoidable gravitational center of the whole production - it opens the set, gets a remix treatment in the intro, and by all accounts still draws the loudest reaction in the room. Everything after it, however well-sequenced, is working to hold attention against a song the crowd showed up primarily to hear. That's not a flaw specific to Kobe; it's the tension built into any tour for a group still two years from its debut.

Glion Arena Kobe, which opened in April 2025 as part of the city's Shinko waterfront redevelopment, has quickly become one of the Kansai region's go-to arena stops, having already hosted Sting and Mariah Carey in its first year. For Illit, playing there marked the group's first solo date in Hyogo prefecture. The tour's final stop is Toyota Arena Tokyo, July 23-26, before "PRESS START♥︎" closes out entirely in Hong Kong on Aug. 22.
