NVIDIA unveiled major gaming updates at Gamescom 2025, bringing RTX 5080-class performance to GeForce NOW cloud gaming and expanding DLSS 4 support to over 175 games. The updates arrive in September without price increases.

GeForce NOW Gets RTX 5080 Performance Boost

NVIDIA's cloud gaming service is getting its biggest upgrade ever with new Blackwell SuperPod servers powered by RTX 5080-class GPUs. The upgrade delivers 62 teraflops of compute performance and a massive 48GB frame buffer, offering up to 2.8x faster frame rates compared with previous-generation servers and outpacing the PlayStation 5 Pro by more than 3x.

The service introduces Cinematic Quality Streaming (CQS) technology that brings cloud visuals closer to local PC gaming with features including sharper text with YUV 4:4:4, HDR10 support, AI video filters, AV1 streaming with smoother resolution scaling, and 100 Mbps ultra-clear quality.

New Install-to-Play Feature Doubles Game Library

The GeForce NOW game library will double to over 4,500 titles with the launch of Install-to-Play, allowing members to access more of their PC collections, effectively adding thousands of Steam games beyond the current supported library. Ultimate members get 100GB temporary storage per session with options for permanent cloud storage.

DLSS 4 Reaches 175+ Games

Over 175 games now support NVIDIA DLSS 4, with the AI-powered technology delivering up to 8x performance improvements over traditional rendering on RTX 50 series GPUs.

Major Game Releases Getting DLSS 4

Key upcoming titles with day-one DLSS 4 support include:

  • Borderlands 4 (September 12, 2025): Launching with DLSS 4 and included in RTX 50 series GPU bundles
  • Resident Evil Requiem (2026): Will launch with DLSS 4 and Path Tracing
  • The Outer Worlds 2, Dying Light: The Beast, and Hell is Us

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants DLC is launching September 4th, and adds NVIDIA RTX Hair for enhanced character detail.

Platform and Device Expansion

The updates expand device support across multiple platforms. Supported LG OLED monitors can also stream in ultra-high 5K (5120×2880) when connected to Windows or macOS devices - no extra hardware needed. LG TVs are also leading the way as the world's first to stream 4K at 120Hz with HDR through a native app.

New peripheral support includes native racing wheel compatibility and enhanced Steam Deck performance up to 90 fps.

Pricing and Availability

NVIDIA Blackwell architecture will deliver cutting-edge graphics and the fastest frame rates in the cloud without raising membership prices. The GeForce NOW Ultimate tier remains $19.99 monthly, with upgrades starting in September.

The company also announced updates to its NVIDIA app launching August 19th, introducing global DLSS overrides and expanded Project G-Assist AI gaming assistant support for RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 series GPUs.
