Miley Cyrus Bass Persuades Hits No. 1 on Billboard 200
Bass Persuades opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 61,000 equivalent album units in the US for the week ending Sept. 24, according to Luminate data reported by Billboard and Rolling Stone. Of those units, 47,000 were album sales. Streaming supplied 14,000, equal to 14.22 million on-demand streams. That makes roughly three of every four units a purchase, not a play.
It is the first Billboard 200 chart-topper for the singer, now working under the mononym Miley, since Bangerz in October 2013. It is her sixth No. 1 album overall.
The number that beat the forecast
Pre-release projections were lower. That Grape Juice reported that early predictions had the album opening around 40,000 to 45,000 units, which would have been her smallest first week for a studio album. It landed about 16,000 units above the top of that range.
The title track came first. "Bass Persuades" arrived Sept. 3 and entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 35, the highest-debuting new song that week, according to That Grape Juice. The album followed Sept. 18, her 10th studio album and the first released through Atlantic Records after she left Columbia. Her previous album, Something Beautiful, peaked at No. 4 on the chart dated June 14, 2025.
The sales share is the story inside the story. Hit Channel reported that the album was available in 16 vinyl variants, nine CD editions, a cassette, and six digital download versions. Multiple editions of one album are a familiar route to a big first-week sales figure, and here the split is on the record: 47,000 sales against 14,000 streaming-equivalent units. Streaming-led No. 1s look different. This one was bought.
What's on the album
The title track drew the most streams in the opening week, followed by "Let's Get Married," "Different Religion," and "Orbit," according to Ratings Game Music. Model/Actriz appears on "Different Religion," and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow on "Neon Signs." A music video for "Let's Get Married" arrived with the album. The Music Universe, relaying promotional material, reports the title track was the No. 1 most-added song at US radio and opened at No. 1 on Spotify's US Top Songs chart and No. 2 globally.
What Miley and Atlantic said
Miley thanked fans after the chart news broke. "Bass Persuades being #1 transcends a win," she said. "This process has been some of the best times for me." She also shared a note from Atlantic Records chairman and CEO Elliot Grainge: "Miley, congratulations on the #1 debut! We are so proud and lucky to get to do this with you. Here's to many more!"
Thirteen years
The last time she topped the chart, the album was Bangerz. Since then she has had 16 Top 10 albums combined, counting her soundtrack releases as the Disney character, per Rolling Stone. This one arrived under a shorter name and on a new label, with a physical-release lineup that was unusually wide.
Her next public date is the Hollywood Bowl, which That Grape Juice described as forthcoming. The show dates were not confirmed in the sources reviewed for this article.
