The second top deputy of Islamic State leader Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi was allegedly killed in an airstrike, the Iraqi Air Force said Saturday. This comes days after another top ISIS commander was reported to have been severely injured.

Business Standard reported that according to Iraq's Joint Operations Command (IJOC), Nasser Mohammed Al-Obeidi, the ISIS military leader in western Iraq and eastern Syria was reportedly wiped out during a bombing conducted by the Iraqi army. Reports say the bombing took place in the western Anbar Province, east of the town of Haditha.

Mohammed Ibrahim, a spokesperson for the IJOC, told CNN that Obeidi was a renowned soldier in the special forces unit of Saddam Hussein's Republican Guards. The said unit was the culprit behind the depraved 'death cult' operations in western Iraq and eastern Syria.

He was reportedly a fugitive from the Abu Grhraib Prison and a former prisoner at Camp Bucca, both of which are situated in Iraq.

Born and raised in the small town of Hawija, Obeidi became a top IS commander in 2003 and was commonly referred to as Abu Omar al-Obeidi.

Until his death, Obeidi was the chief of staff of Islamic State's Military Council.

According to RT Live, Obeidi's death adds to the long list of top ranking IS soldiers alleged to have been killed by the Iraq-U.S. joint coalition in recent months. The U.S. led coalition announced that as of Saturday over 20 ISIS members have been reportedly killed and injured following a U.S. drone attack in the Afghan Province of Nangahar.

"10 senior ISIS leaders operating in both Iraq and Syria, including several external attack planners with designs on attacking Western targets, had been killed in airstrikes." said Col. Steve Warren.
