Zooey Deschanel Gets Sued; Megan Fox MIA In ‘New Girl’ Season 5 Premiere!
Zooey Deschanel is currently being sued by her ex-manager for commissions on "New Girl" and her website, Hello Giggles. Meanwhile, Megan Fox, who is supposed to "replace" her for a few episodes of "New Girl's" 5th season hasn't made an appearance yet.
The "New Girl" star and She & Him singer is facing a lawsuit after her former manager, Seven Summits Pictures & Management, filed a complaint in the Los Angeles Superior Court after Hello Giggles was acquired by Time Inc.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Seven Summits is asserting 10% off the actress' earnings from Hello Giggles, which was sold in October for approximately $20million to $30 million.
"On November 16, 2015, after Seven Summits learned that Deschanel received money in connection with the sale of Hello Giggles," stated Seven Summits' complaint. "Seven Summits requested that Deschanel pay Seven Summits' 10% commission on her income from Hello Giggles ... but Deschanel refused to pay any such commissions."
While the management firm has been previously paid post-termination commissions for Zooey's earnings from her show, the actress asserted that seeking payment for Hello Giggles was "completely absurd and meritless and was filed in retaliation."
Deschanel added that her former management had no right to seek commissions from her website as it was a "completely unrelated sale."
Zooey Deschanel, who took a maternity leave to give birth to her baby daughter, Elsie Otter in August, will reportedly be absent for six episodes of "New Girl's" 5th season. She will reportedly be temporarily replaced by Megan Fox, who will play the role of a sales rep named Raegan.
However, on the "New Girl" Season 5 premiere, the "Transformers" star appeared to be absent and Zooey was still around.
The TV show's premiere focused on Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece's (Hannah Simone) goal to win the approval of Big Mama P (Mrs. Parekh), who is believed to dislike white men for her daughter (Cece), The Bit Bag reported.
According to TV Guide, Megan Fox will be appearing on "New Girl" starting episode 6, while Zooey Deschanel's character, Jess is sequestered on jury duty.
