A manga fan's worst nightmare is usually the moment they realize that the anime adaptation will not follow the original story.
Basically, a departure, especially a major one from the original, is a crime you must never commit.
As such, "Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi" manga fans will likely rejoice that the anime version entitled "ERASED" is set to follow the original ending as created by author Kei Sanbe. The confirmation of the original ending was provided by anime director Tomohiko Ito on Twitter.

The final episode, or series ending of the "Erased" anime will air on March 24. The ending will come just in time behind the release of the March 4 issue of "Young Ace" magazine which serializes the "Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi" manga series.
Aniplex of America has licensed the "ERASED" anime series, and the first episode is now streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
For those who are not familiar with "ERASED" anime, Crunchyroll describes the story as follows:
"Satoru Fujinuma is a young manga artist struggling to make a name for himself following his debut. But, that was not the only thing in his life that Satoru was feeling frustrated about...he was also living with a strange condition only he was able to experience."
It goes on:
"REVIVAL A, strange phenomenon where one is transferred back to the moment right before something life-threatening occurs. This continues to happen until the cause of the threat is erased. It is as if somebody is forcing Satoru to stop it from happening."
