Sherlock Season 4 News Update: Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat Look For 'Right Story' For Possible Sherlock Movie
Sherlock Season 4 News Update: The Abominable Bride, the Sherlock Season 4 holiday special ran on the BBC1 and now writer and co-creator Mark Gatiss is now considering a full-length film. The series, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr John Watson, has already been running 90-minute episodes.
"Of course we could do a movie but it would have to be a story of sufficient scale to make that move, because they're already very big, very expensive and very movie-like," Gatiss recently told media.
"We're doing three more episodes of Sherlock next spring, then we'll see. Obviously Benedict and Martin are both hugely successful film stars, but they're both very keen to do more."
The Sherlock creator wants fans to know there will more episodes of 'Sherlock' the holiday special.
"It is, genuinely, increasingly difficult to get together. It's taken us a long time to get these dates fixed. It's like a chess game and you fix one bit and something else moves. We all certainly want to do more."
In Sherlock' Season 4, the third Holmes brother will reportedly be played by 'Thor' actor Tom Hiddleston.
Tom Hiddleston is famous for his role as Loki in the movie "Thor."
"You find out about Sherlock's background. You find out that he comes from a truly stab family," Benedict Cumberbatch said.
Gatiss, co-producer of "Sherlock," said the Holiday Special set episode in a Victorian Era entitled "The Abominable Bride," had no connection with the storyline of the Season 4.
"We wouldn't have done the story we're doing, and the way we're doing it, if we didn't have this special. It's not part of the run of three episodes," Steven Moffat told Entertainment Weekly.
"Sherlock" Season 4 is reportedly not expected to air until January 2017.
