Xiaomi MIUI 7.1 Update Global Release Date Starts; Developer Promises Longer Battery Life

Xiaomi Tech has started rolling out the latest Xiaomi MIUI 7.1 update to its different devices.

The Chinese phone manufacturer already announced that Xiaomi devices such as the Mi 3 along with its successor Mi 4 will receive the 7.1 update. The list of devices continues with Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi Note Redmi Note Prime, Note 2, Note 3G and Mi Pad and Mi Pad 2. Also, the budget phones Redmi 2, Redmi Prime and Redmi 1S are said to get the new build, according to Xiaomi's announcement.

The MIUI 7.1 stable build has already running on Mi 2/2s upon its release date which can be downloaded  here. Several bug fixes and minor optimization are indicated on the changelog. Xiaomi MIUI 7.1 download through Fastboot Utility has been detailed, too.

Announced last year, the latest MIUI 7.1 update promises to deliver a lower battery consumption and touted to be 30 percent faster than the previous MIUI 6 "with substantially improved response time," Beta News previously reported.

It also features new four themes that include Rose, Pink Blush, Ocean Breeze and High Life and brings features such as XXL Text, Child Mode, Baby Album, Showtime, and sleep detection.

In addition, the device has XXL font size; a Baby album that features baby faces recognition and creates albums; a new Child mode and mute notifications feature.

Xiaomi users in India have already received the OTA update. They also received exclusive India features as the company partnered with Opera Max to provide Data Saver in India to reduce data usage at 50%, NDTV  reported.

"Some of the "Made for India" features include Visual IVR, which is an attempt to reduce the time required to navigate automated voice menus when calling a customer service hotline. Xiaomi's Visual IVR will show the voice menu on the phone's screen, so users can tap on the selection quickly," the website wrote.
