"Fifty Shades Darker" star Dakota Johnson had experienced her share of limelight with the phenomenal success of the movie adaptation to E.L. James' best-selling novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey."

She and her co-star Jamie Dornan have already basked in the glory of the film's success and a sequel has already hit the floor.

As both actors have confirmed that their return to the sequel, there are several reports suggesting that their work will not be coming in cheap this time, said International Business Times.

As per earlier reports, "Fifty Shades Darker" star Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan had received a paycheck of $250,000 in the original movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" along with subsequent bonuses.

The movie has already experienced a blockbuster box-office success of $558 million. Latest rumors suggest that now both of them are negotiating a seven-figure payout starting from $20 million.

However, a larger payout of up to $40 million could also be asked for, said Cinema Blend.

Furthermore, reports also suggested that although actors were paid their due bonuses, they were not compensated properly from the backend.

Moreover, it is quite common that actors ask for their payout in any sequel especially a high-grossing movie like "Fifty Shades of Grey," Hollywood Reporter claimed.

Despite the huge success, one of the franchise producers, Dana Brunetti reportedly does not confer to the actors' ideology and had reacted practically on the rumors.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, the producer had expressed his views explicitly without pulling out any punches.

The interview revealed that Dana was not buying the idea of bigger piece of pie for the "Fifty Shades Darker" main stars, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan.

"Look, when I was starting out and had to cut my teeth and build my résumé to get in, I had to basically work for free on a lot of things." said Dana Brunetti in an interview to Hollywood Reporter.

"I still take reductions in my fees for the opportunities to do certain things. We got slack on 'Captain Phillips' about how much Barkhad [Abdi] and those guys got paid. Look at Jonah Hill in Wolf of Wall Street. It was great for his career. So I'm not going to cry for anybody who wants to be in this business just because a thing they were involved in did very well and they didn't get paid [a lot]. That's not the deal that you made. If it was, I'd have more than a couple Ferraris because all the money my films have made is fucking insane. You've got to start somewhere."
