Gravity Falls Season 2 Series Finale 'Weirdmageddon 3' News Update: Last Episode of ‘Gravity Falls’ Set For Feb. 15 on Disney XD
Gravity Falls Season 2 Series Finale 'Weirdmageddon 3' News Update: "Gravity Falls" season 2 finale, titled "Weirdmageddon III" will reportedly feature an epic battle between Bill Cipher and Time Baby and only one of them will survive. Showrunner Alex Hirsh hinted that Time Baby will be an integral character in the series finale.
Fans picked up on the foreshadowing Alex Hirsch put out about Stan's death. The reports say "every effigy of Stan has been destroyed, usually in a fire, leading many fans to theorize that one day he could meet the same sticky end."
"I know that there will be many fans who will be sad to see the Pines family go, but just because I've finished the story I wanted to tell doesn't necessarily mean we will never see Dipper, Mabel, & Stan again. It means that this chapter is closed, and that I, at least for now, am personally done telling their story," creator Alex Hirsch told Variety.
"I want to thank Disney, my amazing cast and crew, and most of all our fans for taking this unforgettable road trip with me through the redwoods into a place called Gravity Falls. I look forward to seeing what adventure we go on next."
Hirsch explained that it was purely his decision to end the show on his Tumblr page.
Last November, series creator Alex Hirsch revealed that "Gravity Falls" season 2 episode 20 will serve as the show's finale. Hirsch announced the news on his Tumblr.
Gravity Falls was for the most watched animated series of Disney XD.
"Weirdmageddon 3" may feature a showdown between "Gravity Falls" antagonists Bill Cipher and Time Baby.
Hirsch hinted on his Twitter months ago that "At least one character will not survive the season. Buckle up."
Hirsch took to Twitter and Tumblr to announce that the animated cult show is ending after two seasons.
According to a Disney XD spokesperson, Gravity Falls will air "sometime in 2016."
TV Line reported that "a 68-hour marathon is set to start unspooling Friday, Feb. 12 at 11 P.M."
