Sooam Biotech, a laboratory in South Korea, is known as the world's leader in dog cloning with more than 600 dogs cloned successfully. Hundreds of owners from around the world fly to the laboratory to have their furry best friends cloned, quarantined and sent back to them once healthy and ready.

One of Sooam Biotech's client, Junichi Fukuda from Japan, has his pet dog Momoko cloned weeks before she died. Tech Insider notes in their article on Tuesday that Momoko has provided Fukuda with love and comfort while going through a divorce. This explains Fukuda's decision to have his dog cloned.

"She was the best pet in the world for me," explains Fukuda. "The reason I was able to work hard and become more successful was because I was together with Momoko that was how much I loved her."

To subject a pet to the cloning process, Sooam Biotech instructs owners to wrap the body of their pet with damp towels. They must then keep it cool by placing inside a refrigerator (not in a freezer) to ensure extraction of live cells within five days.

Bloomberg reported in their article on Oct 22, 2014 that Dr. Hwang Woo Suk runs the Sooam Biotech facility where clients pay $100,000 to have their dogs cloned. Dr. Hwang and his team have been able to clone their first dog in 2005 and have since then successfully cloned more than 600 dogs.

"These puppies don't know they are clones," notes Sooam biologist David Kim.

Sooam Biotech claims they are capable of cloning any dog, regardless of breed, age and size. With one out of three embryos developing into healthy clones, it's reasonable to say that the South Korean laboratory is the "most efficient cloning lab in the world," says Tech Insider.

"Sooam not only performs dog cloning research, but we also heal the broken hearts," said Sooam Biotech.
