'Lost' Writer And Producer To Pen 'Xena: Warrior Princess' Reboot
Here's a little update on the development of the fresher take on "Xena: Warrior Princess" reboot: "Lost" writer and producer is set to write the comeback of the said NBC series, according to the site Den Of Geek. Back in October original "Xena" star Lucy Lawless stated that it was "too early to say" if she would have any part of the reboot. In addition, the series is still in need to cast a new lead actress which the production requires an actress who has "the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games' Katniss."
Javier Grillo-Marxuach, a writer and producer who penned numerous TV series such as "Charmed" and "Lost" to name a few, has recently signed up to write up some scripts for the project. It is still vague, however, if he's doing something for the pilot episode script at this stage or something bigger.
But what is clear is that Grillo-Marxuach will definitely be a part of the "Xena: Warrior Princess" reboot.
The original executive producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are going to be back to work on the reboot and to work alongside Grillo-Marxuach. Lawless, on the other hand, is currently not attached but NBC chairman NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt made it clear that they would love to have Lawless to be involved in the project in some other way - just not as Xena."We'd love to have Lucy be a part of it - if we felt that her presence didn't overshadow the direction we take with it," the executive said.
In a post by Digital Trends, the original "Xena" ran from 1995 to 2001 and starred Lucy Lawless as the titular warrior princess who owns a bladed ring as her weapon of choice. The series followed the warrior princess on her quest for redemption while fighting for the innocents along the way.
