'Yo-Kai Watch Movie 2' Beats 'Star Wars' In Japan? Third Game Release Date Revealed!

"Yo-Kai Watch the Movie 2: King Enma and the 5 Stories, Nyan!" beat the ticket sales of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in Japan.

The 975,000 tickets sold for the animated movie second installment in Japan. The admission record was considered as a proof when ranking the films rather than its revenue, which is different from the western system. The numbers reported were from Dec. 19 'til Dec. 20 sales since its theatre release.

The movie garnered a total of $10.3 million in two days time with estimated 800,000 moviegoers while J.J. Abrams' sci-fi movie earned a revenue of $13.3 million in three days, according to Nintendo Life.

"Yo-Kai Watch the Movie 2" opened in 358 theatres that was distributed by Toho. It has a gross income of $8.71 million however its distributor was expecting to reach sales of $41 million up to $49 million, according to Variety.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was ranked number two in Japan and hailed the animated movie as the top in the blockbuster. The "Yo-Kai Watch the Movie 2: King Enma and the 5 Stories, Nyan!," gameplay has been popular in Japan since 2014, according to Kotaku.

The game was about the main character named Keita who owns a Yokai Watch to see different yokai.  It's an RPG developed by  Level-5 and was initially rolled out for Nintendo 3DS platform in Japan. It was released in the country on July 11, 2013 and reached the American market on Nov. 6, 2015.

The game has a sequel created titled "Yo-Kai Watch 2." It also has three versions named, "Ganso and Honke," which was first released on July 10, 2014, "Shinuchi" on Dec. 13 of the same year and "Yo-Kai Busters" on July 11, 2015, according to Wikipedia.

Its first movie was released in December 2014 that reached a total income of $64 million. The company will also introduce "Yo-Kai Watch 3" into the market by Summer of 2016.
