Google Play Music Family Plan Announced; Gives Users Access To 35 Million Songs?
Google Play Music family plan is now available following its announcement in September.
The new offer can accommodate a maximum of 6 people in streaming unlimited songs on Google Play for a subscription cost of $14.99 per month. It is also compatible with YouTube and allows users to have the same plan for YouTube Red, that plays videos without any ad interruptions in the U.S, according to Tech Crunch.
Google Play Families product manager, Eunice Kim said that, "For families like mine, we're happy to start offering the Google Play Music family plan today," according to Android Official Blog.
The monthly subscription will "unlock all of the same features you'd get from having individual subscriptions, including ad free, unlimited access to more than 35 million songs and the ability for each family member to stream simultaneously on any device, all for one low price," the statement continued.
Google play music family plan has the ability to sort out songs from each user and not getting it all mixed up together. Subscribers will be able to see music suggestions according to their preferred genre and all save music from one account will not be displayed to the other one.
This new functionality is allegedly a move for the company to adjust with competitors like Apple Music that also has a similar offer, and Spotify that offers a 50 percent discount for premium subscribers. Google revealed that it has a 50,000 songs storage capacity in the cloud.
Last week, the company's 2013 playlist streaming service Songza was announced that it will be shut down in January 2016 and will be integrated into the new app, according to The Verge.
Kim also announced that the app will allow subscription sign ups for the new offer in just a couple of days. This offer will be rolled out for devices in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Australia and more places that will be revealed soon.
This feature can also be enjoyed in either iOS, Android or through the Web platform.
