Confirmed: EXO's Xiumin Tested Positive For COVID-19
South Korea - EXO's management agency, SM Entertainment, released a statement on August 5 that one of the group's members, Xiumin, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Although the artist tested negative for the COVID-19 antigen PCR test before a musical practice, he experienced symptoms of health abnormalities that prompted him to get an additional PCR test.
Once the news was confirmed, Xiumin, and the rest of EXO's members, underwent self-isolation. The rest of the group is still currently waiting for their PCR test results. Additionally, SM Entertainment emphasized that all the performers and staff on the "HadesTown" musical will undergo COVID-19 testing.
Xiumin's management will make sure that they will follow all the mandated health protocols and guidelines. SM Entertainment also assured that the EXO member will recover quickly.
Here is SM Entertainment's full statement:
"Xiumin performed an additional PCR test the day before due to symptoms of abnormal condition, and was confirmed on the same day. In addition, we have informed all broadcast programs where Xiumin is appearing, and some cast members and staff related to the musical 'HadesTown', which we recently practiced together, will be tested for COVID-19. Xiumin will immediately stop all schedules and actively follow the instructions and procedures of the quarantine authorities, and we will do our best for the artist's speedy recovery."
EXO Xiumin first debuted, along with the other members, in April 2012. The group also has just released their new album "Don't Fight The Feeling" this year after their last debut in 2019.
Other South Korean celebrities, just like Xiumin, have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, including Ji Chang Wook, BTOB's Minhyuk, and Treasure's Doyoung and Junghwan.
Currently, EXO-Ls are waiting for further updates on the artists' health. As citizens, we can only hope for the world to heal soon.
