YG Entertainment Plans To Debut New Girl Group In 2021
We might soon see YG Entertainment's new girl group!
According to OSEN, YG Entertainment plans to debut its new girl group in the second half of this year. The name of the group and the number of members it will have are unknown, according to the article, but it will be made up of talented members and will have YG's signature vibe.
"It is accurate that we are planning to launch a new girl group," a source from the organization said in response to the article.
Other big entertainment companies have already debuted their 4th generation girl groups. SM Entertainment debuted aespa in late 2020, while JYP Entertainment debuted ITZY in early 2019.
SM's aespa recently made a comeback with their single "NEXT LEVEL." They debuted six years after SM's last girl group, Red Velvet. JYP's ITZY also made a comeback recently with their mini-album "GUESS WHO," and it took the company only less than four years to debut a new girl group after TWICE.
YG Entertainment is home to many artists, entertainers, and actors. Recently, Son Na Eun of A-Pink signed a contract with the company as an actress.
The last girl group that debuted with YG Entertainment is BLACKPINK about five years ago in 2016. The popular group has seen success in both group and solo activities. Rose had her solo activities earlier this year, while the group enjoyed multiple awards for their songs and performances last year.
Prior to BLACKPINK, one girl group made their names known as the pioneer mainstream girl group for YG Entertainment. 2NE1 has also enjoyed a successful run with the company, enjoying multiple awards and being critically praised for their genre diversity. The last member of 2NE1 to stay was Sandara Park, who announced that she was finally ending her contract with YG.
If there are any predictions, we can almost definitely tell that YG's new girl group will succeed with flying colors if the cards are played right.
