Son Ye Jin hit it big with the very successful "Crash Landing On You" drama together with her now-boyfriend Hyun Bin. Considered the biggest drama of 2020, it has propelled Son Ye Jin's popularity to greater heights, especially in the international market.
In "Crash Landing On You," we saw Son Ye Jin play the character of a South Korean chaebol heiress that crash-landed on North Korea after an incident involving paragliding and strong winds. There, she met a North Korean army officer who fell in love with her.
Now, one year after the iconic tvN drama, everyone is anticipating Son Ye Jin's next drama project. The good news is that fans don't need to wait any longer.
Just today, Son Ye Jin's label, MSTeam Entertainment, confirmed that the "Crash Landing On You" star had received a casting offer to join the upcoming JTBC drama, "Thirty-Nine." According to her agency, Sen Ye Jin is considering the offer, but nothing has been decided as of this moment. The actress was offered the lead role for the drama.
If Son Ye Jin accepts JTBC's offer, joining her in "Thirty-Nine" will be "Hospital Playlist 2" star Jeon Mi Do who is also considering the offer. Sen Ye Jin is offered to play the role of Cha Mi Jo, a 39-year-old woman "who grew up with a well-privileged life and turned out to be the head of a Gangnam dermatology clinic." Meanwhile, Jeon Mi Do is offered the role of Jung Chan Young, a 39-year-old acting teacher.
"Thirty-Nine" is set to be a slice-of-life drama that will revolve around the lives of two women who are turning 40. The upcoming JTBC drama is written by Yoo Young Ah whose works include the drama "Encounter" (2018) as well as movies including "Kim Ji Young: Born 1982 (2019)," "Because I Love You (2017)," and more.
