Despite Grammy Lost, BTS Win Big At 35th Japan Gold Disc Awards

The winners for the 35th Japan Gold Disc Awards are out, and some of K-Pop's biggest names took home multiple merits. Read through the article to learn more.

#Scammys is trending on Twitter after K-Pop boy group BTS failed to win a Grammy Award for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" against Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's "Rain on Me." Despite this, ARMYs still have something to celebrate after BTS dominated the 35th Japan Gold Disc Awards.

For three consecutive years, Big Hit Entertainment boy group BTS snagged the "Best Asian Artist Awards" among others including, "Best Album of the Year (Asia)" for their Japanese album "Map of the SOul:7 ~ The Journey~," "Best Music Video of the Year (Asia)." Aside from these, the septet also received three distinctions for their 2021 hit song "Dynamite." It won "Best Song Of The Year by Download (Asia)," "Best Song of the Year by Streaming (Asia)," and one of the "Best 5 Songs by Streaming." Not only that, but BTS also won two of the "Best 3 Albums (Asia)" awards for their albums: "Map of the Soul: 7" and "Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey~." All in all, the 7-membered boy group won a staggering eight awards.

For their acceptance speech, BTS thanked ARMYs for always giving them a lot of love and support. Moreover, RM, Jin, Jimin, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jungkook extended their gratitude towards their producer Bang Si Hyuk and all the Big Hit Entertainment staff who are working with them to release quality music and great performances.

Aside from BTS, the labelmate "Tomorrow x Together" also snagged two awards this year, including "Best New Artist of the Year (Asia)" and "Best 3 New Artist." 

On the other hand, JYP Entertainment boy group Stray Kids, who debuted in Japan last year, also won the "Best 3 New Artist" while PLEDIS Entertainment's SEVENTEEN bagged the "Best 3 Albums (Asia)" award.
