A meat cutting and curing firm in the United States emerged as the winner of a business plan competition organized by the Yakima County Development Association.

Sunnyside Meat Packers, a business that was launched during the novel coronavirus pandemic, submitted a business plan that bested six other finalists from the "Enterprise Challenge 2021."

Contenders were also tasked to create a presentation that would impress the judges composed of local business and community leaders. A trade show was also conducted to help identify the winners. Amid the pandemic, the face-to-face trade show observed safety protocols in compliance with the orders of the national government.

Jennifer Southwick, David Rand, and Hailey Schlosser, the owners of Sunnyside Meat Packers, brought home 10,000 dollars for winning the competition. They said that their business was originally scheduled to open this year, but due to the demand for meat in 2020, they had to launch their business earlier than planned.

In a recent report by Yakima Herald, the awarding ceremony was held at Hop Capital Brewing in Washington. Around 26 firms participated in the contest.

Meanwhile, a hiking, camping, and outdoor gear shop called Basecamp Outfitters was recognized as the second placer. It received a 5,000-dollar cash prize.

The Tap, a firm owned by brothers Oscar and Edy Zapien, emerged as the third placer. It also brought home 5,000 dollars for its impressive business plan.

In an Instagram post, the owners of Sunnyside Meat Packers expressed their happiness for becoming the champion in the aforementioned business competition. They even uploaded a photo where they can be seen holding the check worth 10,000 dollars.

"We won the 2021 Enterprise Challenge!" the caption reads.

Watch the first video that they shot inside their shop to know more about their operations in the United States. They promised their online viewers that they would make more videos that have better quality.
