While people are currently obsessed with portable game consoles like the Switch and Switch Lite, a canceled game for its previous console, Game Boy Color, may have a chance to be finally released via a Kickstarter campaign. Game developer Incube8 Games announced the project in time for the game's 20th anniversary.

The company announced that the Kickstarter campaign would launch soon and urged gamers to subscribe to their newsletter for updates.

The game titled "Infinity," developed by Affinix Software was slated to be released for the Game Boy Color in 2001. Development for the game began from 1999 to 2001. However, Nintendo released the Game Boy Advance to the public in 2001, and the staff thought that releasing it in that year may not be getting much attraction. Hence, the project was scrapped, and it was never released.

Affinix Software was disbanded in 2002, making the game's development canceled as well. However, many years later, Incube8 Games was formed, and some of its members worked previously with Affinix Software. They are also joined with a new batch of game developers as well.

"Infinity" is described as a game with features similar to when you play the classic RPG games like "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages" and "Oracle of Seasons." The game is said to have more than 50 areas to explore, with six heroes that you can control. You can also get more than 100 items in the game.

According to Incube8 Games, if the game's Kickstarter campaign will be successful, it will be released in a classic Game Boy Color cartridge plus other limited edition items.

"Infinity" isn't the only game that experienced a sad fate in its development years ago. In fact, another game titled "Shantae" was released late when gamers are now glued to the Game Boy Advance. Only limited copies of the game were ever produced and sold.
