Latest Windows 10 Update Is Causing Chaos To Some Printers

Windows updates are essential to keep PC functionality up to date.

Windows 10 has recently given a headache to many of its users due to their March patch updates. It is causing some severe problems for printers.

While the necessary patch updates were to install various security fixes for both the operating system and Microsoft Office products, some reports confirm that PCs and laptops experience constant Blue Screen of Death crashes after the latest patches were installed. Many have taken their frustration to social media and community sites like Reddit.

To explain what happened, the culprit is the cumulative update KB5000808 (November 2019 Update), KB5000802 (May 2020 Update), then followed by the minor October 2020 update. The patches are mainly to release some security-related fixes for Microsoft Office and Windows 10. Unfortunately, these patches have led some users to experience BSOD crashes when trying to print documents.

Reports also said that aside from the crash, this error message also appears: APC_INDEX_MISMATCH for win32kfull.sys. The errors usually happen with various printer models, including Ricoh, Dymo, and Kyocera models.

In some posts on Reddit, anything involving a Kyocera printer only leads to a BSOD crash with an APC_INDEX_MISMATCH for win32kfull.sys error. They also said that upgrading to a new Kyocera driver doesn't work at all.

For those looking for a solution, some users had no choice but to remove the previous updates. There are some tips and tricks online to work around with this, and people were able to solve the problem completely.

In case your printer is a non-Kyocera model, the best solution to combat the BSODs is to upgrade your printer's drivers. Visit the printer manufacturer's official website to get the legit latest updates. Don't settle downloading software from questionable websites. If ever the problem still persists, you may consider revert to the last update of Windows 10. Back-up of your files is recommended.
