Hacking Of Thousands Of Security Cameras Reported in China, United States

Around 150 thousand security cameras have reportedly been hacked in some parts of China and the United States of America.

Hackers said that they were able to breach a security company that provides and installs cameras to bigger and most popular firms in the world.

Some of those that were reportedly hijacked were schools, hospitals, prisons, clinics, and even the main office of Verkada.

A Tesla warehouse in Shanghai, China, is also believed to have been one of the victims of the alleged cyber-attack.

The hackers even admitted that they were able to breach the security cameras of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

Reports from various media outlets such as BBC.com and bloomberg.com say that videos that prove the abovementioned security camera hack have been circulating on social media platforms.

One of them showed police officers from Massachusetts questioning a man who was in handcuffs.

Another footage also showed workers inside a hospital in Florida tackling a man and pinning him to a hospital bed.

Although the circulating videos have yet to be verified, Verkada said in an interview with BBC News that it is already investigating the attack.

It has also coordinated with law enforcers for further assistance.

The company also revealed that it had formed a support line that will cater to the complaints of its customers.

"We have disabled all internal administrator accounts to prevent any unauthorized access," the company's spokesperson told BBC News.

"Our internal security team and external security firm are investigating the scale and scope of this issue, and we have notified law enforcement," she added.

Cloudflare, later on, released a statement that said they were alerted about a possible security camera hack in some of their offices that "have been officially closed for several months."

Meanwhile, Tesla has yet to issue a statement regarding the security camera breach.
