Mnet officially announced the disbandment of the Japanese-South Korean girl group IZ*ONE.

In a statement released by the management on March 10, Mnet, Swing Entertainment, and Off the Record have held discussions and shared opinions related to the IZ*ONE project's fate and conclusion.

The group was formed in 2018 through Mnet's reality idol search show "Produce 48", then officially made its debut in October 2018. The group formed is only a "temporary group that would promote for two and a half years."

Mnet has appreciated all the love and support that fans worldwide have given to IZ*ONE, and now it has come to this. A two-day online concert for the group called "ONE, THE STORY" will be happening on March 13 and 14. This is considered as their one last performance before the group parts ways.

Back in Early 2021, Mnet's parent company CJ ENM has reached out to the agencies of the IZ*ONE members to discuss a possible contract extension. No updates on this report have been made as of press time.

IZ*ONE is managed by Off the Record and Swing Entertainment and is composed of the following girl members: Jang Won-young, Sakura Miyawaki, Jo Yu-ri, Choi Ye-na, An Yu-jin, Nako Yabuki, Kwon Eun-bi, Kang Hye-won, Hitomi Honda, Kim Chae-won, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Chae-yeon.

Their first EP titled "Color*Iz" was released on October 29, 2018, and immediately was a commercial success with more than 225,00 units sold and hitting the top music charts in South Korea. Their EP and lead single "La Vie en Rose" topped the Billboard World charts.

They have released not only Korean singles and EPs but also in Japanese as well. Their song "Suki wo Iwasetai" was released in February 2019 was sold more than 250,00 units.

With this very popular group's disbandment, IZ* ONE's members' fate is still hanging in the balance.
