BTS Celebrates Seollal Lunar New Year Creating Handmade Crafts, Greets ARMY In Traditional Hanbok
On February 12th, Lunar New Year is celebrated across the globe. Simultaneous with the Chinese, the Korean New Year or Seollal is the first day on the Korean calendar, based on the Chinese Lunar calendar where families gather together, giving gifts, trying New Year's dishes, and so much more.
South Korea President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook sent their best wishes via a video greeting, empathizing with the citizens who had to postpone their trips to their hometowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also hopes that the country returns to normal.
In Korean entertainment, the Lunar New Year is also celebrated well. BTS has updated their official YouTube page, BANGTANTV creating handmade crafts and greeting their fans in traditional Korean attire, hanbok for the Lunar New Year.
BTS's V, RM, Jungkook, J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, and Suga are wearing traditional attire as they sat around the table to showcase handmade crafts with pieces of paper, colors, pens, stickers, laces, and more. They created greeting cards for Korean New Year in under three minutes.
It has been a successful year for the K-Pop boy band, and they have several things to anticipate in the year ahead. They are hoping to become the first K-Pop band to clinch a Grammy award.
BTS's Suga took to social media to greet ARMY a "Happy New Year," while J-Hope and Jin took selcas to send their Lunar New Year greetings.
Meanwhile, BTS has also been chosen to appear on an upcoming "MTV Unplugged" special showing this February 23rd at 9 p.m. Eastern standard time. They will bring their fans to never-before-seen versions of the boy band's career-defining hits from their latest album, "BE."
"MTV Unplugged" has featured international artists in the past, including Tony Bennett, Aerosmith, George Michael, Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and so much more.
