Netizen Dismayed Over How Son Ye-jin's Philippine Endorsement Greeted The 'CLOY' Star On Her Birthday
During the birthday of Son Ye-jin last Monday, the "Crash Landing On You" star has received overwhelming greetings from her worldwide fans and even from the brands that she endorses. They sent her virtual gifts, video montages, messages, and more.
It was an unforgettable moment in Korean entertainment. Yet, there was a netizen who criticized the way one of her endorsements in the Philippines, Smart Communications, Inc., a telecommunications provider based in the Southeast Asian country, and its affiliate, PLDT, posted greetings on her 39th birthday on January 11th.
"The PLDT-Smart group earned more fans when it shelled out millions of dollars to get Korean stars Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin as endorsers," the netizen said on their article on a website named "Bilyonaryo." "The #BinJin couple's advertising luster, however, has started to fade as Smart's service continues to be dismal."
The netizen was referring to their greetings of Smart Communications, Inc. for the star's birthday, which read, "Nothing but love for our dearest Son Ye-jin."
It included a graphic design of one of the images from her endorsement, which also said, "Dear Ye Jin, happy birthday from your Smart family. Thank you for making us a part of your life journey..."
Son Ye-jin was selected as the official endorser of Smart Communications last year. The company is one of the largest network providers in the Philippines.
The Philippines-based telecom group also featured a second post that read, "Saengil chukahamnida, Queen Son Ye-Jin! Simply sending love and best wishes from your Smart family."
Locally, the Facebook page of the telecom group is infamous for getting several responses from their customers complaining about their service. The netizen in his website quoted a Facebook user who stated, referring to the telecom provider, to instead enhance their products.
Hyun Bin and Park Seo-joon are likewise endorsing the telecom provider.
