Best K-Dramas To Look Forward To In 2021

'Sunbae, Don't Put On That Lipstick'

2020 has been named the "banner year" for K-Dramas by the Chinese newspaper, South China Morning Post. While there are several K-Dramas still being shown, including the much talked about "The Penthouse," "Mr Queen," and "The Uncanny Counter," the 2021 K-Drama line-up is one you should look forward to. 

Korea Portal is keeping track of the K-Dramas of 2021 coming your way. Here are the new and exciting shows launching this year. 

1. Be A Meal 

"Be A Meal," the new half-hour series featuring food as the theme. It tells the story of Young-Shin, to be portrayed by the former member of the K-pop group 5dolls, Jung Woo-yeon, in her 20s and born with the talent for cooking. Her specialty is traditional royal cuisine. The story will showcase her getting involved with several people as she discovers more of her passion. It airs on January 11th on MBC. 

2. Younger

A Korean adaptation of the American comedy-drama of the same name, "Younger" is based on a book written by Pamela Redrom Satran, telling the story of a recently divorced mother, 40 years old, forced to get a job after her ex-husband took away her money. She lands a job in publishing and has to work her way up the work ladder. The show was originally created by "Beverly Hills, 90210" creator Darren Star. It launches on Netflix this year. 

3. Sunbae, Don't Put On That Lipstick

Award-winning "Rain Or Shine And Life" star Won Jin-ah transforms into cosmetic brand marketer Yoon Soon-a in "Sunbae, Don't Put That Lipstick." She meets with Ro Woon, FNC Entertainment actor, and singer who portrays Chay Hyun-seung, a marketer, and they start dating. It is set to launch on January 18th on JTBC. 

4. River Where The Moon Rises

"River Where The Moon Rises" is the retelling of the love story between Pyeonggang and On Dal, characters in a classic Goguryeo folktale Pyeonggang is an ambitious woman who dreams of becoming the first woman to lead the kingdom of Goguryeo. She then uses On Dal's love for her to achieve her vision. It launches this 2021 on KBS. 

These and more K-Dramas are launching this 2021. Start to brace yourselves for a year filled with shows you should look forward to.
