2020 APAN MUSIC AWARDS

The Korean Entertainment Management Association (KEMA) has held the APAN Awards for 7 years now. In their 7th year, KEMA acknowledged the global music phenomenon that is K-Pop, therefore establishing the first-ever APAN Music Awards.

However, due to the recent spike of coronavirus cases and the implementation of Level 1.5 of social distancing that prohibits gatherings of more than 100 people in South Korea, KEMA has decided to postpone the ceremony for both the APAN Music and APAN Star Awards.

Supposedly the 2020 APAN Music Awards and APAN Star Awards are scheduled for November 28 and 29, respectively, and to be held at the Kyunghee University Grand Peace Palace.

In a statement, the KEMA Chief Executive Director Son Sung-min expressed, "We will keep a close eye on the COVID-19 situation and come up with a way to strictly abide by disease prevention guidelines before deciding on new dates. We will make a full defensive preparation for safety so that the ceremonies can be held successfully."

Meanwhile, on November 26, KEMA announced the winners for the Top 10 K-Pop artists as well as other special awards for the first-ever APAN Music Awards.

This year's top 10 K-pop acts have been announced to be  Kang Daniel, The Boyz, MONSTA X, BTS, Seventeen, IZ*ONE, Lim Young Woong, GOT7, NCT 127, and TWICE.

The Top 10 artists were determined by combining fan online voting, digital and physical sales, as well as scores from independent professional judges.

In addition, NCT U was awarded as the "Best Global Icon." The "Best Performance Award" was bagged by Kang Daniel, while BLACKPINK received the "Best MV." Lastly, the "Best All-Rounder Award" was given to Got7's Leader, JB.

Congratulations to the winners!

Stay tuned for more updates and announcements from the KEMA regarding the schedule for the award ceremonies as well as the winners for other categories such as "Best Group" and "Best Solo" for both male and female categories.
