In line with the first death anniversary of the late KARA-member and actress, Goo Hara, this November 24, her brother Goo Ho In shared that they are making progress on the ongoing attempts to pass the "Goo Hara Act."

He further revealed that recently, the Korean Women Lawyers Association has offered their help in pushing for the legislation of the act.

He said, "One year has passed quickly already. Recently, the Korean Women Lawyers Association gave us help. I'm relieved that we're agreeing that the 'Goo Hara Law' is necessary, and we're making progress."

Furthermore, he expressed his hopes for the passing of the "Goo Hara Act."

"Even if it takes a little longer, we'll try to legislate. If not now, when will it get passed?" expressed Goo Ho In.

The petition for "Goo Hara Act" came to fruition after Hara's biological mother who left her and her brother, Goo Ho In, since they were young, reappeared to claim her share of inheritance after the untimely death of the singer. Aside from pushing the act's legislation, Goo Ho In also took legal action against their mother, who is seeking 50% of the late singer's inheritance.

Even if the act won't affect Goo Ho In's current legal battle with his mother, he says that if the legislation was passed, it could "help other children protect their assets against their negligent parents."

Meanwhile, last May of this year, the "Goo Hara Act" was scrapped in the 20th National Assembly due to lack of time for evaluation.

UnderSouth Korea's Civil Act, biological parents can get an inheritance of their deceased child's properties regardless of their "negligence" in raising their children.

On November 24, 2019, the late singer-actress was found lifeless at her house in Seoul. After the investigation, the police ruled that the cause of death was suicide and confirmed that no foul play was involved upon discovering a note written by Hara herself.
