Mnet In Talks with YG for MAMA 2020
It has been a few years since a YG artist has attended the MAMA Awards, but it looks like this will happen again soon based on some new outlet. Mnet reportedly met with some senior officials from YG Entertainment last October 30 in hopes of having YG's rookie group Treasure to appear on the awards show.
The beef between YG Entertainment and Mnet is well-known in the industry. Even more so when BIGBANG's G-Dragon seemed to have made a diss rap against the network in his performance in MAMA 2014. In his rap, he highlighted how there could be favoritism in the awards show, with awards being given away so easily, even to less deserving artists.
Despite the speculations, Mnet still invited BIGBANG to perform in MAMA 2015. The last appearance of a YG artist in MAMA was in 2017, where again it seems that Mnet was showing its grudge against the artists when they blurred Blackpink. They later claimed that it was a technical error on their part.
Although there is no final word yet on whether Treasure will be performing for this year's award show, many are hopeful that this will finally end the feud between the two. This can also mean that other artists will be able to also perform on the awards show and even promote on M Countdown.
